The 38th Annual NHLBC Convention package is
ready for distribution!
The day long, monthly meetings including telephone
calls, web-site searches and visits to the hotel have come to an end
for this portion of the planning. Those committee members not in
attendance at some of the meetings were a cell phone call away.
This committee of five living in three states stuck to
the task at hand. We collaborated in ways we never thought we
could. The hardest challenge during this phase of the planning
was what to have for lunch!
We e-mailed or called several individuals from our NHL
family to ask for advice. We thank each of them for their input
and continued support.
A few changes will be evident when you peruse the
packet. Both evening dinners are plated, no anxious moments
waiting for your table number to be called. Sunday’s breakfast
buffet is on the lite side.
We have re-named the Pub Crawl – not re-invented it!
Who of us crawls? We talked about this activity – what really
happens here – there is a gathering of friends, sometimes a new face
or two joins this curious assemblage, we order an array of creature
comforts and we drink our favorite libation. Some of us even try
to stump the local bartenders with a potion or draft from our region
of North America. Thus, we are calling our Wednesday night
Pub Crawl - Chat, Chug and Chew. Enjoy!
Calling all Golfers – Friday is your day to play a
course in DuPage County.
Your first payment of $100.00 should be received by
February 15, 2008. Please include with this payment the cost of
the Cubs, the Sox and Second City activities. As these tickets
are difficult to secure we have them on hold. Our website is
www.nhlbcc2008chicago.com.
The intention to host NHLBCC 2008 did not come without
much mind searching, my deepest and heartfelt thanks to Barb, Elaine,
Kate and Mel for supporting me on this decision.
In addition heartfelt thanks to Louie from Atlanta;
Jean from Colorado; Larry from Detroit; NHLBC 2007 Convention
chairperson Evelyn and her committee; Faith and Nancy from Pittsburgh;
Judi and Nancy from St. Louis; and the Vancouver Canuck Booster Club.
We could not have done this without your suggestions; your hard work
in our hospitality room in Philadelphia.
Looking forward to seeing each of you in Oak Brook in
August,
Joan Rog, Chairperson
NHLBCC 2008, Inc.
